When you choose a map style it comes prebuilt with relevant features and information. A free map allows you to edit the map by adding your own personal knowledge of points, lines, and areas. This information must be public. You cannot customize the type of base maps, overlays, or tools used in a free map. A personal map allows you to edit the map by adding your own personal knowledge of points, lines, and areas. You can choose to make this information private. You can also customize the base maps, overlays, and tools used in a personal map at any time. An organizational map offers the same capabilities of a personal map with the ability to invite other people to edit the map and to track the edits they make.
You can make a map at any time and any map you make is added to your account where you can manage it. You can switch your maps status between free, personal, or organizational at any time. You can also update your payment details or manage your payments from your account. If you have personal or organizational maps and your payment for these maps expire or you switch them to free, then your private map information becomes public and you cannot customize the map.
We have a partner map creation utility if you want to create branded maps or specialized maps for your business to resell. For example, we have created a custom map type for video shoots for a partner. This partner can log-in to Mapper to create maps using this type but the type is not available to the general public on Mapper.
